Village Working Group

Lands & Resources
Jul 30, 2025

The VGWG was established to get input from citizens on the land use and planning of Ehthlateese, as the village grows and is revitalized.

VGWG members will provide guidance and advice on village topics such as housing, residential growth, environmental protection, transportation, community design, shared spaces, and community services.

Goals of village planning are to:
• Encourage and accommodate Uchucklesaht citizens in returning home, focusing on citizens’ diverse needs for now and in the future.
• Plan and construct a safe, accessible, efficient, and climate-resilient village.
• Support cultural practices and focus on health, wellness, equity, and connection to the land.
• Uphold the importance of water, air, and resources of Uchucklesaht Treaty Settlement Lands and traditional territory.

Term/compensation: The VGWG is open to all Uchucklesaht citizens to become members for a one-year term.

Interested citizens must attend a minimum of one of the first two meetings held to be considered a member. A member must attend at least 80% of the meetings to be eligible for compensation (as per the VGWG Terms of Reference, available at www.uchucklesaht.ca).

Meeting frequency: The VGWG will meet regularly at least once every two months for a one-year term, with ad hoc meetings scheduled as needed.
