Planning Today for Future Homes

Housing is pivotal to the health and wellbeing of our community. UTG’s long-term vision is to create more opportunities for Uchucklesaht citizens who want to live in Ehthlateese and call the village home.

As Ehthlateese continues to grow, UTG is planning for future residential lots and the infrastructure needed to support more homes.

To help with that work, we want to know how many citizens are interested in owning land and living in Ehthlateese when future lots become available.

By registering your interest, you are helping UTG better understand future housing demand and plan for what our community may need in the years ahead.

This is directly aligned with the adopted UTG Land Interest Identification Policy, which connects housing to health and wellbeing, bringing citizens home, village revitalization, and the creation of building lots for future housing.

Why Register Your Interest?

  • Building more homes in Ehthlateese takes more than creating residential lots.
  • More homes may also require expanded water, sewer, and hydro services, along with funding and long-term planning.
  • Knowing how many citizens are interested in living in Ehthlateese gives UTG a clearer picture of future demand.

Your interest helps UTG:

Understand future housing needs
Know how many citizens may want to live in Ehthlateese.

Plan for future residential lots
Better understand the amount of land and housing that may be needed.

Plan community infrastructure
Prepare for the water, sewer, hydro and other services that future homes may require.

Seek funding
Strengthen future planning and funding applications with a clearer understanding of citizen demand.

UTG is currently seeking funding to support additional lots and increase the capacity of water, sewer, and hydro services.

What Are You Registering For?

You are registering your interest in obtaining and owning land to live in Ehthlateese when future residential lots become available.

If you are eligible, our Lands and Resources team will add you to UTG’s formal list of interested citizens.

Registering your interest means:

UTG knows you are interested in a future residential lot

Your interest becomes part of the formal list

Your information can help UTG understand future housing demand

It does not mean:

You have been allocated a lot

You have been selected for land

A future lot is guaranteed

The price of a future lot has been determined

The current Policy establishes only the interest process. Land selection, allocation, and transfer are not part of this stage.

Who Can Register?

You can register if you:

Are a Uchucklesaht citizen

Are 18 or older

You can also register if you will turn 18 by the end of this calendar year.

There is currently no deadline to apply. Eligible citizens can register their interest on an ongoing basis.

What Happens After I Register?

Step 1: You register

Complete the Land Interest Identification Application and send it to Lands and Resources.

Step 2: We review your application

Lands and Resources confirms that you meet the eligibility requirements.

Step 3: You join the interest list

If eligible, you are added to the formal list of interested citizens and receive confirmation.

Step 4: Your interest supports planning

The information helps UTG better understand future housing demand and plan for future community needs.

Step 5: We keep you informed

As future housing, infrastructure and land processes develop, UTG will share updates with citizens.

The application review, eligibility confirmation and placement on the interest list are established in the current process.

Where Are We Today?

We’re at the beginning of a longer journey.

NOW: Understanding Citizen Interest
UTG has adopted the Land Interest Identification Policy and is now building a clearer picture of how many citizens are interested in owning land and living in Ehthlateese.

UNDERWAY: Planning & Infrastructure
UTG is planning for future residential development and seeking funding for the infrastructure needed to support additional homes.

Preliminary planning has identified approximately 21 potential future residential lots.

AHEAD: Future Land Opportunities
Further planning, infrastructure work and future decisions will be needed before residential lots can be made available.

Interest → Planning → Infrastructure → Future Lots → Home

What Hasn’t Been Decided Yet?

Registering your interest is an early step in a longer process. It does not mean every part of future housing and land development has already been decided.

Future decisions are still needed about things such as:

  • How future residential lots will be allocated
  • Future lot pricing
  • Development timelines
  • Infrastructure funding
  • When future lots may become available
  • Future housing policies
  • Housing support programs

These matters are not determined through the current Expression of Interest process.

As this work moves forward, UTG will continue to share updates with citizens.
