The Uchucklesaht Tribe assumes the responsibility of providing transparent and accountable government through impartial, open, fair and free elections for our elected members of Council. This requires an electoral process that is conducted with honesty and integrity for the common good of all Uchucklesaht citizens.

2023 Election
The election for 2023 of the Uchucklesaht Tribe Government was held on November 11, 2023, which took place in the Nucii Gym, 4841 Redford St. Port Alberni. Voting was done from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The next election will be in November of 2027.

Uchucklesaht Tribe Government Election Timeline – November 2027
The next Uchucklesaht Tribe Government (UTG) Election to appoint Chief and Council will take place in November 2027. Below are the key steps and deadlines leading up to the election:
August 2027
- The UTG Legislative Council calls the election.
- Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) is appointed (at least 90 clear days before the election).
September 2027
- The CEO posts and publishes:
- Notice of Election
- Voters List
- Date of Nomination Meeting (at least 60 clear days before the election)
By End of September 2027
- Nomination Meeting is held (at least 45 clear days before the election).
October 2027
- Voting packages are mailed out.
- Nomination papers and fees must be filed (within 7 days of the nomination meeting).
- Nominations confirmed by the CEO (within 10 days of the nomination meeting).
- Advance Voting Day typically held near the end of October.
November 2027
- General Election Day is held on a date chosen by the UTG Legislative Council.
